Tiefling art
I was commissioned by author CR Hunt to provide a dramatic cover featuring tiefling art for an evil character in his upcoming novel, The True God’s Rising. Receiving this brief was really exciting. I could really picture it in my mind when we discussed it. The fiery portal… The dramatic pose. The gnarly armour. So cool. It’s the first time I’ve had the opportunity to paint a tielfing, and I absolutely loved it. I really like the creature, you can get really creative with them.
Dungeons and Dragons
Tieflings are race of creatures from the Dungeons and Dragons setting. Dungeons and dragons is a tabletop roleplaying game, or TTRPG for the initiated. DnD (as it’s also known) is the real granddaddy of roleplaying games. It’s been around since forever, and has gone through numerous editions, iterations and rule changes.
In Dungeons and Dragons, a group of players will sit down and play out roles within a story over a series of game sessions. Usually packed with adventure, puzzles and who-dunnits. Not to mention a good share of combat based on an extensive set of statistics and dice rolls: making famous the now synonymous twenty sided die.
Animated fantasy art
The coolest thing is that once we were done, I could see a great opportunity to animate the tiefling art which you can see at the top of the page. I have been working on my VFX and animation skills lately and it’s really opening my eyes to see cool creative projects. More to come in future I’m sure!
