New fantasy maps
I few months back I mentioned these fantasy maps when I was showing off the fantasy art scene below. I’d been working for SkyNation Publishing with Renee Sky.
Renee had asked me to draw up some maps to help depict her setting for world building her series of fantasy books. As usual, when I get the chance of working on a bit of fantasy cartography I jumped at the opportunity.
Below is the close up map of one of the islands from the uppermost map on the page. I have a bit of a formula when I work on maps, but I always like to make a few tweaks and minor changes to the way I work each time I do them. It means they always have their own unique charm.

I love my job. I’ve always wanted to be an artist working on fantasy settings, creating worlds that give people real escapism and suspend their disbelief. One of the things I absolutely love though, is the interaction with people who are following along with what I’m doing.
