Phantom Studies: Urban fantasy book cover art for Brad Younie

Here’s an urban fantasy book cover from a short while ago, I’ve just not had the time to shout about yet! I was commissioned to work with Brad in a genre I work in less than my usual classic fantasy settings. I do love getting the opportunity to work on these though. Brad wanted the cover to depict a self assured college student, who was quite at home with the spirit world when it came knocking…

Below you’ll see the sketches and how the character changed a little from the initial first draft. She definitely had more of a steady, self assured vibe in the second round.

Brad Younie

“Brad Younie writes books mostly about magic in the real world because he thinks people need a little excitement in their lives. Being an eternal teenager in a man’s body, he owns a collection of swords, wands, and spends way too much time studying these things. A man with many hobbies, he plays guitar, reads books, watches movies, and fences with lightsabers and swords that are a bit sharper. But most of all, he weaves tales of magic and mystery that chills to the bone as it makes the heart race.”

You can find out more about Brad’s novels on his website.
