Welcome to the Dragon’s Den! Not those rich guys… My freelance fantasy artist studio!

I thought it might be quite nice to show those who follow me where I work. While I’m here I thought I’d say a few things about my job.

What’s it like to be a freelance fantasy artist?

Being a freelance fantasy artist in Sussex is honestly a dream come true. My little office, tucked away in a quiet corner of town, is finally filled with prints of my work (pictured below) and way too many half-empty cups of coffee (not pictured). Every day starts (read: should start) with a bit of atmospheric music, a strong brew, and my emails. What actually happens is I get too excited about what I’m working on and plunge straight into drawing and put some Iron Maiden on. One moment, I’m bringing a mighty dragon to life; the next, I’m sketching a tiny goblin merchant with a dodgy grin. There’s something magical about turning imagination into something real, especially when a client gets as excited about a piece as I do.

It’s great to be able to choose my own schedule, work with clients I love and grow my skills and little company every day. I feel mega thankful for what I get to do. Don’t get me wrong, it’s been a long journey, but I’m so pleased to be where I am and every day feels like a new opportunity.

Hi I’m Jamie!

I work on fantasy and sci-fi maps for various clients from authors to game publishers. I have had some great clients working on both established IPs and new settings. I’m always interested in hearing about more projects I might be needed on, so feel free to drop me an email to info@thenobleartist.com
