Steampunk Characters for Gearworks
I had the pleasure of working with Kirk Dennison of PieceKeeper Games, on their board game Gearworks. I provided steampunk art for the marvellous machine building strategy game.
Gearworks
“Gearworks is a strategy card game for 1-4 players where you compete to build fantastical contraptions. For fans of puzzle games, it evokes the feel of Sudoku and features a mix of hand management and area control. Strategically position your gears to fix a mysterious clockwork machine in the corner of the workshop. Earn mechanical parts produced by the machine and use them to construct awesome gizmos!”

What is Steampunk?
Steampunk is a genre and aesthetic that combines elements of Victorian-era history with futuristic, often fantastical, technology powered by steam rather than electricity or modern fuel sources. The concept usually imagines a world where steam power remains the dominant technology, which leads to intricate machinery, clockwork mechanisms, and elaborate gadgets with a vintage-industrial look.
In this case, the characters have electrical mechanisms that are powered by the synonymous cogs of Steampunk, mixed with some more modern aesthetics, less Victorian and more contemporary.
