Titling on the Domain of the Deathless King books by Bruce Kennedy – All Illustration and other titling is my own work
I’ve created a couple of demonstrations so you are able to see my process of illustration and character design. Below you’ll also find a couple of sketches next to their final versions.
I work primarily in Adobe Photoshop. I do not use generative AI in my work. On some landscape pieces and concept art, I occasionally use snippets from licensed stock photography and paint over them during illustration, a technique known as photo-bashing. This is client-optional, the majority of my work does not involve this technique, which is why I wanted to show the stage by stage video of my process.
You can see from the video of the pirate, I start with a black and white sketch and begin to refine it before adding all the colour and polish.

Hi I’m Jamie!
I’m the artist behind The Noble Artist. I’ve been working as a professional fantasy artist since 2010. I love my job, every day is a new adventure into awesome worlds, with fantastical creatures and magical characters.
I’m fortunate enough to have worked on some amazing projects, from the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay and Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay games to League of Legends, Gloomhaven and Thunderstone Quest. I’ve also had the pleasure of working alongside some amazing fantasy authors including Ed Greenwood and Richard A Knaak.
As you can imagine, as a fantasy artist, two major IPs stand out as the “Holy Grail”, Dungeons and Dragons and Magic the Gathering. Both games I have played and loved over the years. The hardback black covered DnD books, and the VHS video that accompanied my first Magic starter set still fill me with glorious nostalgia.
I would love to have the opportunity to work on both IPs. Both are staples of the fantasy genre, and I am eager to push myself to new levels with Wizards of the Coast, given the chance.
I can provide references from clients, including my producer at Cubicle 7 and anything else you may need. Please drop me a line to info@thenobleartist.com.
In the Press
I’ve also featured in the UK’s #1 tabletop gaming magazine several times. Including being asked to write an article about being a Freelance board game artist, another about the games I play as someone from the Industry.
Since 2010 I have had hundreds of amazing clients, these include:
